NDIS Workforce Development (2020)

Victoria’s mental health workforce has undergone significant change and transformation. Our MHV NDIS Workforce Development (Psychosocial Capabilities) Project focuses on building the foundational mental health capabilities and recovery-oriented practice of frontline NDIS workers. The project is supported by DHHS NDIS Transition Support funding.

Applications for Mental Health Victoria's free Psychosocial Learning Hub places for 2020 have now closed. MHV received applications for 1350 learning places. Applicants have been advised of the outcome of their applications. The program is limited to 600 free learning places.

Learners that have been accepted into the program can click here for Frequently Asked Questions, here for the Learner Manual, and here for a Guide to the Yarno Manager Dashboard.

This project is developing and delivering a suite of learning and development programs for support workers, support coordinators and team leaders/supervisors. The program tailors learning for this mostly mobile and time-poor workforce by delivering the program digitally via mobile and micro-learning.

This project upholds the important value of collaboration. Our Project Working Group includes a NDIS participant and carer, and representatives from VMIAC, DHHS, NDS, seven NDIS providers and St Vincent's Mental Health. Eight co-design workshops have been held with people with a psychosocial disability and a NDIS plan, carers of people with a psychosocial disability and a NDIS plan, Support Workers and Support Coordinators working with people with a psychosocial disability, and NDIS Team Leaders / Supervisors and Managers.

The project runs from May 2019 to June 2021.

This project builds on the success of the 2018 Pilot Project, Recovery-Oriented Practice Resources for providing NDIS Psychosocial Supports. The report is available here.
