Mental Health Victoria, in collaboration with the Department of Health, is undertaking a review of the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
The project aims to prodce a report that:
Project Lead Charles Manila is about to conduct a series of consultation workshops.
Beginning the first week of November, these sessions will seek to gather a broad range of opinions and feedback on the current Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
"The aim is to gain a wide variety of voices and perspectives to let us know what the strengths and limitations of the qualification are," says Charles.
"We will consider what gaps currently exist and see if the courses are fit for purpose in equipping learners for the mental health workforce.
"In the end," he says, "we want to provide recommendations to improve the current qualification. We need your voices and help!"
Each workshop will run for around two hours online. Participants will be reimbursed $75 per hour if this falls outside of their regular work hours.
The first workshop is specifically targetting team leaders, managers or employers of peer workers at mental health organisations. It will run on 10 November 2021 from 10am-12pm.
