  • experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem

until appropriate help is received or the crisis resolves.

This 12-hour course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. Suitable for any interested adult.

Evaluations consistently show that MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness.

It is also associated with decrease stigma and an increase in help provided. Approximately 20 per cent of Australian adults experience common mental illness each year. Completing an MHFA Course will help you to develop the skills to support a friend, family member or co-worker.
