NDIS ROPDS Project Growing National Workforce Capability

This Project aims to increase the capacity of the NDIS psychosocial provider market by building the psychosocial disability support workforce capabilities and recovery-oriented practices of NDIS support workers nationally.

 About the project

The overarching aim of the NDIS Recovery Oriented Psychosocial Disability Support (ROPDS) – Growing Workforce Capability Project is to build the capacity of the NDIS provider market by building the capabilities of the existing and potential NDIS workforce in ROPDS. The Project will achieve this by identifying and leading an evidence-informed, national approach to professional development (PD) to increase the skills and knowledge base around ROPDS in the NDIS environment.

This will be achieved collaboratively across jurisdictional boundaries and informed by the lived experience voice. The opportunities to engage with this Project will include a series of national workshops (online and face-to-face where permitted), phone and/or online consultations, and e- surveys.

The project, supported by DSS through the NDIS Jobs and Market Fund (JMF), and will run through to November 2021.

Objectives

The objectives of the Project are to:

· Develop a shared understanding of core competencies, professional development (PD) needs, and a common national approach to expand provider capacity and capability in ROPDS;

· Improve the NDIS provider knowledge base by identifying good practice and its underpinning capability requirements to inform the development of PD programs for the NDIS psychosocial workforce;

· Folowing sound co-design principles, incorporate the experience of NDIS participants, carers, providers, workers and other key stakeholders to ensure the Project is informed by the lived experience voice;

· Create strong national linkages to enable efficient provider access to information and resources on ROPDS in the NDIS environment;

· Deliver a PD program to build the workforce capability for ROPDS; and

· Use the Project findings to provide recommendations to the VET sector on the pre-vocational training of future NDIS workers.
