Mental Health Sector Forum - Reform in Action

6 November 2020

2021 will see the start of unprecedented reforms in Victoria’s mental health system with the release of the final reports of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System and the Productivity Commission's Inquiry into Mental Health.

To prepare for the implementation stage of the reform process, the fourth Mental Health Sector Forum, hosted by Mental Health Victoria (MHV) and the Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) will focus on the keys to implementing major reforms effectively.

Hear about New Zealand’s experience with mental health reform and the role the Mental Health Complaints Commission can play in the reform process, with presentations by:

  • Robyn Shearer - Deputy Director-General, Mental Health & Addiction, Ministry of Health New Zealand; and
  • Treasure Jennings - Mental Health and Disability Services Commissioner

Participants will have the opportunity to contribute their views through breakout sessions, the outcomes of which will inform a paper on effective reform implementation and what is needed to support the major reforms underway in mental health in Victoria.

The forum is aimed at thought leaders, managers and staff from organisations in or intersecting with the mental health and health sectors.
