Support MHV: Sponsorship and Partnership
Mental Health Victoria are proud of the impact of our work supporting the mental health and wellbeing sector and advocating for the mental health needs of Victorians. Unfortunately we can’t do it alone, and as a registered charity look to the good will of partners and sponsors to continue this essential work.
Big or small, one off or long term support, MHV value any and all contributions to our work.
The need
- Each year, around one in five Victorians experience mental illness and almost half of Victorians will experience mental illness during their life.
- It’s estimated that more than 200,000 people living in Victoria experience severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
- Sadly, in 2024 there were 778 deaths by suicide in Victoria and the impacts are felt by up to 135 people, including family members, work colleagues, friends and first responders.
- The burden of disease from mental illness in Victoria has been calculated as 26.5 years lost per 1,000 people in the Victorian population. This is much higher than the ‘burden of disease’ from mental illness for most other Australian states and territories.
- Due to the limitations of the current mental health system, people are often not able to access services when they need them. Despite a focus on mental health in recent years following the Royal Commission into the Victorian Mental Health System Victorians continue to struggle to find the advice and support they need.
- Without MHV, there is no independent voice
